EMR Analyst (Athena)
EMR Analyst (Athena)
Texas • Harbor Health
About Harbor Health
Harbor Health is looking for a collaborative EMR Analyst to become a member of our team. Harbor Health is an entirely new multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX utilizing a modern approach to co-create health with those who get, give, and pay for it, allowing everyone to fully flourish. Join us as we build a fully integrated system that connects care to a better payment model that truly puts the human being at the center.
Position Overview
The EMR Analyst manages the day-to-day administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of our Athena EMR — the backbone of how we deliver care. This is primarily an Athena-focused role: you will configure, maintain, and enhance the platform to drive efficient healthcare delivery and operational improvement across the organization. On a lighter-touch basis, you will also help support adjacent clinical applications (such as Phreesia) and new systems we adopt as we grow. You’ll carry out the hands-on work and recommend enhancements, while key configuration and strategic decisions are made in partnership with and approved by leadership.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment, moves with a strong sense of urgency, and brings the organization, reliable follow-through, and collaborative instincts to execute effectively against the priorities set by leadership.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer the Athena EMR. Configure, implement, maintain, and continuously optimize the Athena platform, providing hands-on day-to-day support.
- Analyze and improve workflows. Conduct workflow assessments, capture business needs, and analyze internal systems to identify functional requirements that maximize utilization of Athena.
- Build and troubleshoot. Perform due diligence and research to develop and configure moderate-to-high-complexity break-fix and configuration solutions in Athena.
- Partner with technical resources. Collaborate to review, build, test, and debug Athena, including active participation during testing for implementations and upgrades.
- Track and coordinate projects. Use project management platforms (monday.com and Jira) to keep work organized, on schedule, and clearly tracked — and ensure assigned action items are followed through to completion.
- Partner on training and documentation. Work alongside the training team — which leads most end-user training and documentation — providing EMR and system expertise, and supporting virtual training sessions and tip sheets as needed.
- Support adjacent applications. Provide support for Athena-integrated and other clinical applications such as Phreesia, and help onboard new applications as Harbor Health grows.
- Recommend improvements. Identify and recommend process and system improvements that leverage new Athena functionality for leadership review.
- Build relationships. Cultivate strong relationships with end-user communities, clinical and operational teams, revenue cycle management (RCM), and other business partners.
Desired Professional Skills & Experience
Required
- Hands-on Athena EMR experience in a healthcare setting (required), weighted toward technical/system configuration — back-end tables, behind-the-scenes build, and system setup — rather than end-user support.
- A strong sense of urgency, with the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Highly organized self-starter who manages multiple concurrent initiatives and reliably follows through on commitments.
- Experience using project management platforms (monday.com and Jira), and familiarity with project management methodology and its application.
- Dependable meeting attendance and preparedness — shows up on time, ready, and accountable for next steps.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to bring teams together and foster effective cooperation across functions.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, critical problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Effective communication skills to translate technical and system concepts clearly for clinical, operational, and business partners.
- Experience developing technical/system design specifications and carrying out system builds.
- Strategic thinker who adapts and responds effectively to changes in organizational or EHR priorities.
Preferred
- Experience working in a startup or early-stage organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience supporting additional clinical applications (e.g., Phreesia).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to clinic sites across Texas as needed.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and incentives
- Generous PTO
- 10 paid holidays
- CME allowance and time off
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Occurrence-based malpractice
